Vassilios is a Senior Partner of the Firm with over 30 years of experience. In addition to contract and real estate law, he has an extensive litigation practice, focused on civil and commercial law disputes. He also advises on mergers and acquisitions and on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy protection and he has often led complex due diligence in the frame of high-profile transactions. He is specialized in handling complex contentious matters in all areas of law among which pre-litigation strategic advice, representation of local and international clients in court proceedings on real estate, securities and insurance litigation, enforcement of foreign judgments, and recovery of claims, including enforcement and interim measures such as securing and freezing of assets.
He has extensive experience in real estate and property law where he regularly advises and renders legal opinions to clients, including the drafting and negotiation of property contracts, such as acquisition and finance contracts, commercial leases and sale and leaseback of commercial, industrial and private property; his experience includes providing advice to the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund in the context of privatization of State owned real property; to a Luxembourg based fund and its Greek affiliated company in relation to a project for the development of a golf and mixed use recreational residential resort, on real estate issues, the entitlement process, permit application and approvals; to Greek and foreign clients on all legal issues arising out of due diligence procedures and/or acquisitions of various types of real properties (e.g. residential premises, commercial properties, retail premises, shopping centers, hotels and holiday resorts, industrial and office buildings).
Vassilis has also extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution, which includes successfully representing clients in disputes arising from M&A, shareholders’ agreements and commercial agreements, such as agency, distributorship and insurance, as well as from corporate obligations and capital markets regulatory compliance; his experience also extends to real estate litigation in civil and administrative matters, special land uses, urban planning and forestry.
Vassilis has also developed a client base in the area of company and commercial law, advising on company formation, establishment of Greek subsidiaries of multinational companies, ongoing corporate governance for listed and non-listed companies and employment issues, with an emphasis on the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts of all types. He also advises on mergers and acquisitions and on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy protection.
