We advise the subsidiary of a leading international industrial and energy group on a range of complex legal matters relating to a major energy project with a total budget of approximately €90 million, admitted to the Strategic Investments regime. The project concerns a photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of approximately 110 MW, already licensed by the competent authorities, to be developed on a site of approximately 1,500,000 sq.m. in Central Greece.
Our involvement spans the full range of legal issues that arise in projects of this scale and complexity — from energy law and the regulatory framework applicable to renewable energy source (RES) projects, to specialised questions of property law and a broad spectrum of environmental law issues relevant to RES development more generally. These include the precautionary and prevention principles, the assessment of environmental impacts on the natural, residential and built environment, and the compatibility of RES projects with the approved Spatial Planning Frameworks and Landscape Zones.
This mandate is a further testament to our Firm’s leading practice in projects and energy, and to our deep, sector-specific expertise in environmental law and the legislative and regulatory framework governing energy infrastructure development in Greece.
The mandate is being handled by a team led by our Managing Partner, Nicholas Moussas and Senior Associate, Nikos Sakkas.
