Our litigation team represented a German investment services institution and secured the overturn of a first instance judgment, in relation to an investment dispute pending before the Second Instance Court against Greek investors seeking damages in the area of € 2 mil. The dispute related to malpractice in the provision of financial services and misappropriation of funds, in which we established that our client was not involved.
The First instance court had granted a baseless claim against our client which was dismissed following our appeal in the second instance proceedings (Athens Court of Appeals). In a landmark judgment, the Court of Appeal offered a comprehensive reasoning on various and complex legal issues including the concept of “piercing the corporate veil”.
